What is oxygen used for in mining?

In the ​cyanidation method (widely used for gold recovery), oxygen is injected into leaching tanks to oxidize gold ore and enhance the chemical reaction between cyanide and gold particles. This oxidation step converts gold into a water-soluble complex, enabling efficient extraction. What gas is used in gold mining?
