Nitrogen is an inert gas. Nitrogen generators were originally widely used in fire prevention and extinguishing in coal mines. The principle is mainly to use the inertness of nitrogen. As nitrogen generators gradually expand from the coal industry to non-coal fields, their application areas are expanding. Different industries have higher and higher requirements for nitrogen concentration in nitrogen generators, and the purity of nitrogen is required to reach 99.99%. This forces companies to keep pace with the times and improve product performance indicators and adapt to market needs by developing high-purity nitrogen generators.

 

At present, the general nitrogen production methods mainly include cryogenic separation, pressure swing adsorption, and membrane separation. Pressure swing adsorption (PSA) nitrogen production technology usually uses two towers in parallel, with air as raw material and carbon molecular sieve (CMS) as adsorbent at room temperature. The diffusion rate and adsorption capacity of N2 and O2 on CMS are different. O2 has a smaller diameter and diffuses faster, and more enters the molecular sieve solid phase, so that N2 is enriched in the gas phase. After a period of time, the molecular sieve reaches equilibrium in the adsorption of O2, and the pressure is reduced, and the carbon molecular sieve releases the adsorption of oxygen. The two towers alternately perform pressurized adsorption and decompression desorption, adsorbing and releasing O2 from the air, thereby separating N2.

 

Pressure swing adsorption is a very effective new gas separation technology, which has been widely used in industrial gas separation and purification, gas drying and hydrogen separation and refining. Pressure swing adsorption has the advantages of small investment, high degree of automation, simple operation and maintenance, and normal temperature operation.

NEWTEK pressure swing adsorption carbon molecular sieve nitrogen production device uses carbon molecular sieve as adsorbent to produce nitrogen. It mainly consists of five parts: air purification component, air tank, PSA oxygen-nitrogen separation component, nitrogen buffer component, and electronic control system. The function of the air purification component is to remove dust, water and oil from the compressed air and provide clean raw materials for the oxygen separation component - air. Carbon molecular sieve is the core part of the pressure swing adsorption nitrogen production device. Since the compressed air discharged by the compressed air compressor usually contains oil and water, the air purification component must be used to remove oil and water before entering the oxygen-nitrogen separation component. The air purification component is generally composed of an air-water separator, a pre-filter, a freeze dryer, a fine filter, an ultra-fine filter, an activated carbon deoiler, an automatic drain valve, a ball valve, etc.

 

1. Air tank

The air tank is equipped with a safety valve, a butterfly valve, a pressure gauge, etc., which can ensure the smooth use of the system gas when the system is switched, improve the quality of the compressed air entering the adsorber, and extend the life of the molecular sieve.

2. PSA oxygen-nitrogen separation component

The PSA nitrogen production process, through programmable control of the opening and closing of the pneumatic valve, completes the process of alternating cycle of pressure adsorption and pressure reduction desorption of the two towers A and B, so that oxygen and nitrogen are separated and the required nitrogen is finally obtained. The adsorption capacity of carbon molecular sieve for oxygen varies with the increase or decrease of pressure. Under the condition of a certain volume, the nitrogen production decreases and the nitrogen production concentration increases. Taking advantage of this characteristic, pressure swing adsorption is used to separate oxygen and nitrogen, so that the concentration of the produced nitrogen can be adjusted.

3. Nitrogen storage tank component

The function of the nitrogen storage tank component is to buffer the pressure change of the finished gas during the adsorption process according to N2. The frequent opening and closing of the corresponding program-controlled valve ensures that the entire device operates according to a certain procedure to ensure the purity and flow stability of the output nitrogen.

4. Electrical control system

The control system adopts imported fully automatic PLC control, which can realize unattended automatic operation of the nitrogen production device.
