The Role of Oxygen in Cyanide Leaching

In the gold cyanidation process, gold is dissolved from ore using a solution of sodium cyanide and oxygen. Oxygen acts as the critical oxidizing agent that drives the chemical reaction forming soluble gold-cyanide complexes. Without sufficient oxygen, the dissolution rate of gold slows dramatically, reducing recovery yield and extending leach cycle time.

 

Traditional air injection systems cannot provide the necessary dissolved oxygen concentration for efficient leaching, as atmospheric air contains only 21% oxygen. The Cyanide Leaching Oxygen Generator overcomes this limitation by producing oxygen-enriched gas (90–95% purity) on-site, ensuring optimum oxygen transfer into the slurry and stable cyanidation conditions.
