In recent years, many hospitals have begun to adopt the mode of self-production and supply of oxygen, which effectively meets the oxygen consumption in medical rescue. PSA medical oxygen concentrator has the advantages of simple oxygen supply operation, fast oxygen production and high purity, which reduces the burden of medical work and facilitates medical staff and patients. In order to ensure the oxygen purity and efficiency of medical oxygen concentrators, and to ensure the smooth progress of oxygen production during the large-scale use of medical oxygen concentrators, it is necessary to study and analyze its use and maintenance process, grasp the key points of possible problems in use, solve them in time and do a good job of later maintenance.

Working principle of PSA oxygen generator

Pressure swing adsorption (PSA) is based on the different adsorption of oxygen and nitrogen by molecular sieves. Zeolite molecular sieves are used as adsorbents to separate oxygen and nitrogen in the air, thereby selectively adsorbing oxygen in the air. The components of PSA oxygen generator include: air compressor, main line filter, air balance tank, oxygen generator host, sterilizing filter, oxygen pipe installation, etc. On this basis, the oxygen generator needs to be equipped with 2 sets of 10-bottle busbars as emergency backup oxygen sources during use. Molecular sieves are specifically composed of many tiny granular components. The mass fraction and surface area of molecular sieves are not low. Generally speaking, the surface area of each gram of molecular sieve can reach 800~1000/g. After being compressed, the air passes through the air purification system to remove impurities such as oil, water, and solid dust, and then enters the adsorption tower equipped with zeolite molecular sieves. Nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and water vapor are adsorbed by the molecular sieves in large quantities. Oxygen passes through the adsorbent due to its high diffusion rate and is separated, and oxygen is obtained directly from the compressed air. To ensure that the amount of oxygen provided is continuous and stable, the equipment generally sets up two or more adsorption towers, one of which plays the role of adsorption, and the other is used for analysis to regenerate the adsorbent and reuse it. Switch and use according to the appropriate time to ensure the continuous production of oxygen with a concentration of 90%~94%.

Medical oxygen concentrator use and maintenance strategy

Use and maintenance of oxygen concentrators

The normal oxygen content in air is 21% and the nitrogen content is 78%. The function of the oxygen concentrator is to extract oxygen from the air, separate the remaining gases and discharge them into the air. Medical oxygen concentrators are generally configured in two units, one is the main unit and the other is the auxiliary unit. The two can provide oxygen at the same time or be used separately. There are two modes of use, namely manual and automatic. Generally speaking, the probability of failure of current medical oxygen concentrators is very low. The performance of the electronic board under normal circumstances is relatively stable and will not fail.

(1) Failure phenomenon.

The adsorption and analysis functions of the molecular sieve are affected, the operation effect of the oxygen concentrator is poor, and the quality of the produced oxygen is not ideal.

Cause of failure: Since the valve core and diaphragm of the intake valve, balance valve, nitrogen exhaust valve, etc. are moving parts, it is easy to cause the diaphragm to rupture and the top of the valve core to deform during long-term operation, which will cause the solenoid valve to lose its normal closing function, and then have a certain degree of impact on the adsorption and analysis functions of the molecular sieve, making the operation of the entire oxygen generator poor. Therefore, under normal circumstances, most of the failures of medical oxygen generators are due to this problem. If this problem is eliminated, the oxygen generator should be fully inspected to find out the cause of the failure. Molecular sieve is an important component of medical oxygen generators and occupies an important position in the oxygen production process. Affected by the environment, use conditions, moisture, oil inflow, etc., the molecular sieve may lose its function.
(2) Maintenance tre atment.

Replace the ruptured diaphragm and deformed valve core in time to restore its closing function, prevent its influence on the adsorption and analysis function of the molecular sieve, focus on protecting the molecular sieve, and regularly maintain and replace the molecular sieve.

Use and maintenance of air compressor

The air compressor is one of the important equipment of the oxygen generator system. It is generally composed of two screw air compressors and controlled by a microcomputer. The pressure is generally set to 6.0~8.0kg/cm2. Due to the complex composition and operation of the air compressor, the probability of failure is very high. Therefore, during use, more attention should be paid to its failure and timely maintenance. The specific failures are as follows:
(1) Failure phenomenon 1: During the startup of the compressor, the pressure value does not reach the upper limit and is still in the loading state after a delay.
Cause of failure: It may be due to the failure of the solenoid valve or the leakage of the pipeline.
Maintenance treatment: If the solenoid valve fails, replace the solenoid valve. If the pipeline is leaking, replace the leaking hose by using the air hose leakage.
(2) Fault phenomenon 2: The compressor air output process or the pressure is not higher than the normal value.
Cause of failure: The air filter element is blocked.
Maintenance treatment: Replace the filter element, replace the leaking hose by using the air hose leakage, the oil-gas separator is blocked, and replace the separator element.
(3) Fault phenomenon 3: The fuel consumption is too high; there is oil on the discharge pipeline.
Cause of failure: The oil level is too high. First check whether there is excessive refueling or the added oil does not meet the regulations or there is a fault in the oil-gas separator.
Maintenance treatment: Release the pressure and discharge the oil to the correct oil level. If the added oil does not meet the regulations, replace it with qualified oil. Check the oil-gas separator and deal with it in time if there is a fault.

Summary

Medical oxygen concentrators play a vital role in medical rescue work. They can be used to produce high-purity oxygen for patients. However, due to their long-term cycle work, various faults may occur. Timely maintenance and treatment of faults is the premise for ensuring the stable and safe operation of medical oxygen concentrators.
