How the modular PSA nitrogen generator works
The PSA nitrogen generator uses the principle of pressure swing adsorption to produce a continuous stream of nitrogen from compressed air. Pairs of extruded aluminum columns are filled with carbon molecular sieves. Pre-treated compressed air enters from the bottom of the online column and flows upward through the carbon molecular sieve. Oxygen and other trace gases are preferentially adsorbed by the carbon molecular sieve, allowing nitrogen to pass through. After a preset time, the online column automatically switches to regeneration mode to discharge impurities adsorbed in the carbon molecular sieve. Unlike ordinary activated carbon, the pore size range of carbon molecular sieve is narrower. This allows small molecules such as oxygen to enter the pores and be separated, while larger nitrogen molecules cannot enter the carbon molecular sieve and bypass directly to become product gas.
