PSA Oxygen Plant for Pulp And Paper
Oxygen generators used in pulp and paper production are mainly based on pressure swing adsorption (PSA) technology. The principle is to separate oxygen by using the difference in the adsorption capacity of zeolite molecular sieves for nitrogen, oxygen and other gases in the air. Under higher pressure, air is compressed into an adsorption tower equipped with molecular sieves. The molecular sieves preferentially adsorb nitrogen, and oxygen flows out through the adsorption tower. When the molecular sieves in the adsorption tower are saturated with adsorption, the molecular sieves are desorbed by reducing the pressure to release the adsorbed nitrogen and other impurity gases, thereby achieving cyclic adsorption and continuous generation of oxygen.

Role in Pulp Bleaching
Pulp bleaching is a key step in the papermaking process. Traditional bleaching methods may use chlorine-containing compounds, which may cause environmental pollution problems. The oxygen produced by the oxygen generator can be used in chlorine-free bleaching processes, such as oxygen bleaching. In this process, oxygen reacts with lignin in the pulp under alkaline conditions, oxidizing and degrading the lignin, thereby achieving the purpose of bleaching. This method can effectively reduce the generation of organic chlorides and reduce harm to the environment, while also improving the whiteness and quality of the pulp.

Optimization of the cooking process
During the pulp cooking stage, oxygen can be used as a cooking aid. It can promote the reaction between lignin and cooking agents (such as sodium hydroxide, etc.), and accelerate the dissolution and removal of lignin. This helps to shorten the cooking time and improve production efficiency. For example, in the kraft cooking process, adding an appropriate amount of oxygen can make the cooking process more efficient, reduce the use of chemical agents, reduce production costs, and make the quality of the pulp more uniform.
Application in wastewater treatment
Paper mills produce a large amount of wastewater, which contains a large amount of organic matter. The oxygen generated by the oxygen generator can be used for aerobic treatment of papermaking wastewater. In the aerobic biological treatment process, microorganisms use oxygen to decompose organic matter in wastewater into harmless substances such as carbon dioxide and water in an aerobic environment. By injecting oxygen into the wastewater treatment system, the activity of microorganisms can be increased, the speed of wastewater treatment can be accelerated, the treated wastewater can meet the discharge standards, and the pollution to the environment can be reduced.
